Scope of Work

Shou Sugi Ban Kitchen Design & Build

Shou Sugi Ban is an ancient Japanese technique that was used to preserve Cedar by charring the surface with a hot flame. The process involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning off any soot and finishing the boards with an oil.

In this kitchen we have combined Shou Sugi Ban cedar planks, with solid brass frames and recessed handles. It wasn’t easy, but we think the result is stunning.
